Ipsy Glambag Plus October 2018 Subscription Review

img_1495

Hey guys! Here is the variation I received for Ipsy’s very first month of Glam Bag Plus. Ipsy is a monthly beauty subscription that has a $10 per month option and $25 per month option. They ship to the U.S, non-continental U.S. and territories as well as Canada. Shipping is free in the U.S. and USD $4.95 for Canada. With the $10 subscription you get 5 deluxe samples in a small makeup bag. The $25 subscription will get you 5 full-size products plus a deluxe makeup bag with every third shipment. To see past original glam bags just look through my past posts. The products range from makeup, skin care, hair care and makeup tools. Active members can earn points to use in the points store by reviewing their full Glam Bag, reviewing the individual products in their bag, following the Ipsy Creators on Twitter and YouTube, and by referring people to Ipsy. Members also get access to Ipsy Offers which are promotions they feature every weekday to help their members discover beauty products and deals from brands that Ipsy loves. Ipsy Shopper is another great perk of membership that allows you to earn cash back on purchases that are made through the Ipsy Shopper store. If you are interested in subscribing to Ipsy please consider using my referral link at the end of this post. The link for the products are non-affiliated and are provided for your convenience.

In honor of this being the first month that Glambag Plus is available they included 6 products instead of 5.

For reference on the size I was able to put everything I received this month in it when they were taken out of their packaging and had room to zip it up.

LXMI Pure Nilotica Melt Nourishing Balm-to-Oil

img_1498img_1499

The LMXI pure nilotica melt nourishing balm-to-oil  is a hand and body moisturizer. It is made with 100% organic shea butter which nourishes and moisturizes dry to very dry skin. To make this product the shea nuts were cold pressed which means it keeps it’s skin benefiting properties. I’ve used shea butter as a moisturizer before and can say it works really well. The butter starts out pretty thick as you can see in the above picture but the heat of your hands melts it down to an oil that you can rub onto your skin. Because it is cold pressed it retains it’s natural smell which some people may not like but was not something that bothered me. The only reason I am not using shea butter now is because I have read about cross-reactivity in people with latex allergies and don’t want to push my luck.

Morphe High Impact Highlighter in Extra

img_1500

The Morphe high impact highlighter in the shade Extra is a peachy gold highlight powder. The component portion of this highlighter has a really nice weight to it and comes with a mirror so they didn’t skimp on quality there. The highlighter itself is smooth and butter with a pretty intense shimmer. Under a flashlight you can see the gold, pink and green reflects within the peach base which doesn’t translate in the picture. It is slightly darker than my skin so I need to use a lighter hand when applying it.

Ciaté London Dewy Spritz Luminous Prime and Set

img_1503

The Ciaté London dewy spritz luminous prime and set spray can be used to prime your skin and set your makeup as the name implies. This oil free spray contains hyaluronic acid and green tea extract to hydrate the skin and iridescent shimmer to add a glowy look. The sprayer puts it out a little heavy so it won’t take very many sprays to set your makeup or prime your skin. The shimmer settles in the bottle so you do need to shake it to before using. It has a scent that dissipates some over time and the shimmer does transfer a little.

Tarte Maneater Voluptuous Mascara

img_1505

The Tarte Maneater voluptuous mascara is formulated to volumize, lengthen and curl lashes without clumping or flaking. This mascara contains jojoba and carnauba wax to strengthen and protect the lashes and prevent flaking. The carnauba wax also ensures a smooth application of the mascara. The pigmentation is on point and per usual with Tarte mascara it is formulated without parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, triclosan, sodium lauryl sulfate and gluten.

Smashbox Cosmetics Cover Shot Eye Palette in Bold Glitter

img_1508

The Smashbox Cosmetics cover shot eye palette in bold glitter has 6 pigmented glitter eyeshadows and two double-sized base shades that also have glitter. I highly recommend using a glitter glue before patting these shadows onto the eyelid since it will give you the best payoff and intensity as well as keeping the shadows from staining your skin. When I removed the swatches, the ones that I didn’t use glitter glue with (very top and  very bottom swatch) left a stain on my arm. I found it easier to pick up the shadows with a slightly damp finger as well. After cleaning my fingers with a makeup wipe I dried off the excess moisture with a towel before going back in for more product. Worked beautifully.

Purlisse Blue Lotus Seed Mud Mask + Exfoliant

img_1510

The Purlisse blue lotus seed mud mask and exfoliant is a 2-in-1 mask that improves skin’s texture. The key ingredients are blue lotus, bamboo, ginger, mushroom extract, white clay, rice bran and white tea that work to bring dirt and impurities to the surface, tighten pores, brighten, soothe and gently remove dead skin cells when you rinse the mask off with circular motions. I assume the pumice listed in the ingredient list is the exfoliant. It can be applied with a brush or fingers and it’s recommend that you use it 1-2 times a week for at least a month to improve skin texture. I have textured skin that is very sensitive so I am glad that this mask is safe for sensitive skin. I’m still going to do a 48 hour patch test to be sure since even products formulated for sensitive skin can still break me out in a rash. Will try to post an update on how this mask worked for me on my Instagram.

Retail Value: $48.00

The total value of this bag is $167. I think this may be comparable to Boxycharm in value though can’t say for sure till I’ve received a few more months worth to get a more accurate opinion.

Stayed tunes for my next post on the October 2018 Yes, Oh Yas! bag!
